Here’s to everyone in any sort of isolation tonight… I wish you health, wealth (whatever that means to you) and happiness.

What does happiness mean to you?  I’ve thought about it quite a lot over the last few days and I’ve come up with:  first and foremost – relationships.  For me relationships bring the most wealth… in my case ‘love’.  I’m home alone like many people this evening, but I do have my two adorable little furbabies, Molly and Coco.  They’re gonna be nine years old next month (hard to believe we’ve been together that long) so whilst I can’t have any human contact, the loyalty and devotion these two amazing creatures bring me makes me feel humble.   They’re always excited to see me, whether I’ve been out and left them for 10 minutes or a couple of hours or maybe while I’ve been away for a while – their love is constant and unconditional.  They’re always up for a game or a walk and I’m sure would help me with all sorts of things if they could talk or cook… maybe not cook… I think they’d devour everything before it got anywhere near being cooked.

Although I can’t have any physical contact with my family, my children, their partners or my grandchildren, my siblings or my friends, we’re all in close contact… even more than before the wretched virus grounded us all.  Again, I express how grateful I am for the technology that enables us to link together.  So cheers to you housebound peeps … cheers to you too care workers, NHS staff and those who’re working so hard to keep our amazing island afloat.
